Facade (Spoiler Alert)

The very first time I started playing facade, it was very short. I could not figure out how to walk into the apartment and I got kicked out very soon just because of that. The second time I started playing, I figured out how to walk into the apartment and finally got to meet Grace.  Hooray? The moment that I heard Trip and Grace arguing through  the door during my first gameplay, I could tell that the story was going to revolve around a generic white upper class yuppie marriage failure. Grace wanting to be an artist, but then ending up working for a fashion magazine screamed yuppie to me. It showcases the popular struggle of all yuppies which is to either choose a career that they love and be unsure of their future...

Facade

Facade the gift that keeps on giving. Facade has something that most modern games don’t have and that is re-play ability. The first time I was escorted out of the house I was shocked and offended. I thought to myself did I just lose; is this real. When I recovered from the emotional shock I restarted the game and was set on going as far as possible. However after about 10 minutes of constant bickering I had enough and started to insult them. This caused the two of them to some what work together and turn on me. Which I told them was a step in the right direction for their relationship. Despite the game not knowing how to respond to most phrases and comments it was still enjoyable interacting with the two of...

Facade – Response

Sep 16, 2013 by

To start things off I’m not used to word text games as I never played one before. It was interesting and fun, as it hurts to admit, to feel that you have some leverage over the way the plot will reveal it self. Then I played it for the first time, Trip and Grace, seemed to be round characters but after playing few more times they became very dull. I managed to finish the game twice out of six tries and both times the plot was practically one and the same. First it was Trip that cheated on Grace with some Maria and the way Grace responded what killed the interest.  Grace did not engage in this branch of the plot and simply ignored it. Second time I finished it it was exactly the...

Facade

First off, the install time on this game was far too long.  Not really worth the time waiting to get to play the game in the first place.  I mean, half an hour just to decompress audio files? Really? Let’s get into it anyhow.  I enjoyed the intro, setting up the story with just a black screen and someone calling the player on the phone to invite the player over for a visit.  The player is then treated with a very odd camera pull-back effect, pulling away from the two characters of the game, Trip and Grace. Just when the player thinks they can start playing the game, the player is forced to choose a name from a list (which didn’t include my own name, so I picked funny names such as Walter and...

Façade- Thoughts

Sep 16, 2013 by

In my two play-throughs of Façade I had quite a different reaction to it, the first time I played I got kicked out almost immediately because I told the husband to shut up and proceeded to try and kiss the Wife. But on my second play through I began to take a different direction and tried to stay for as long as I could without getting kick out and it was during this time that I really started to like the game. The clunky mechanics and terrible word detection aside it was a very unique concept to a game. I’ve played many games that are designed to change your future and allies/foes as you make different decisions but never a game where you can type anything and it’s a neat idea. I think if someone...
