Journal Log of my experience w/ Grace & Trip...

With some minor hacking, I finally got Facade to work on my Mac. The comments and reviews of this game range from, “groundbreaking!” to “knee-slappingly bad.” So I’m excited to see what is so damn polarizing about this game. I’m invited into Grace and Trip’s eerie yuppy apartment, and welcomed by their arguments about wine glasses and prosciutto. A framed wedding photo hangs on the wall, a mounted shelf full of porcelain ornaments, one a pineapple, another that looks like a phallus. More arguing.   … (a time lapse)   It’s not exactly fun, but it’s certainly an interesting experiment. Aside from the poor graphics, limited dialogue responses, and difficulty, there is at least excellent characterization. It’s not a saving point, but, hey, it’s a silver lining. I can’t help but admire how real...

Façade

I found the story in Façade wasn’t too hard to pick up on what was going on/being hidden right away.  However I don’t feel it didn’t took anything away from the game as it was basically spelled out what was happening before you start playing.  It is an interesting game, not something I normally would play.  I think it is the first major text-based game I have played other than an easter egg in one of the Call Of Duty games (Zork, based on the Adventure game).   My first playthrough was pretty short, I managed to get myself kicked out of the apartment in about 5 or 10 minutes.  It was difficult for me to adjust to the limit of how much I could type.  The second time, I managed to complete the...

Brizzkey’s Review of Facade...

Sep 15, 2013 by

I actually used to play this game quite often over a year ago. The animation wasn’t spectacular, in fact the glitches made it quite hilarious, and sometimes it could be a bit frustrating with Trip and Grace not always giving you ample time to respond. Not to mention, that god damn 35 character limit. It should be safe to say that if you’re a master tweeter– which is a SAD, SAD ACCOMPLISHMENT– this game might be easier for you, depending on whether you’re patient enough to wade out it’s run time to actually obtain an ending that isn’t you getting booted out of the house. Fun fact #1 about this game: saying the word “melon” gets you automatically kicked out of the apartment. Fun fact #2: If you leave the apartment, Trip will get...

Somewhat Of An Autobiography

Hey everyone, My name is Ryan and I am a 3rd year student at Cap.  This summer I went on a study abroad exchange to Japan for 4 months through Cap.  It was fun, but I am only taking 2 courses this semester for a bit of a late vacation from school.  I didn’t know courses like this existed at Cap and I am excited to have to play video games for homework 😛 I have worked at a small, but busy food kiosk at Lonsdale Quay for 6 or so years now, so for a bit of a career change I have decided to become a lifeguard (training starts next weekend).  I enjoy swimming, climbing, playing soccer, hockey, and airsoft (similar to paintball).  I am also an avid gamer and tech person (get...

Hi, nice to be here on the World Wide Web. I’ve been living in North Vancouver since 2009, and things are pretty OK. My parents have in the past described me using words like ” amiable”  and ” fresh”.   I’ve been at Capilano for the past couple years (and I swear this is my last year). I’ve enjoyed it for the most part, but I’m looking forward to getting the ball rolling on my adult life and going somewhere to study Forestry. Likes: Cultural Music, Indoors/Outdoors, Comics Dislikes: Seaweed, High Frequency Noise (e.g. Babies, Small...

Self-Introduction

Hi, I’m Roman, I enrolled into Serious Games and Techno-Tragedies course by accident thinking it was a Creative Writing English course. Tell you the truth I never knew there was such English courses that were based on gaming and technology. Other then that, I would not categorize myself as a gamer, having BioShock Infinite as the backbone of the course sounds really fun way of doing...
